DIRSI and ACORN-REDECOM (Americas Communication Research Network / Red Americana de Investigación en Información y Comunicación) are pleased to announce the Training Seminar on New Technologies and their Challenges for Telecommunications Regulation in Latin America.
The seminar seeks to provide an overview of key regulatory issues in the ICT industry today, and to help develop the necessary tools to understand the implications of new technologies for spectrum allocation, universal access programs, competition policy and ICT-enabled economic development.
We particularly encourage young scholars and advanced students, mid-level regulatory staff, civil society organizations, specialized journalists, and mid-level managers to apply.

Target Audience: Young scholars and advanced students, mid-level regulatory staff, civil society organizations, specialized journalists, and mid-level managers.
Goal: To provide an overview of key regulatory issues in the ICT industry today, and to develop the necessary tools to understand the implications of new technologies for spectrum allocation, universal access programs, competition policy and ICT-enabled economic development.
Methodology: Small training seminar (limited to 30 participants). Each session will introduce a topic/problem, and provide tools, discuss cases, and allow for ample classroom interaction with senior academics and practitioners.
Cost: Private Sector: USD500, Public Sector: USD250, Academics, Civil Society and Journalists: USD50 (students will have fee waived on case by case basis). Cost includes a folder with background papers and relevant presentations.
Recognition: Certificates will be issued and endorsed by Acorn-Redecom and DIRSI.
